"Fear does not prevent death, it prevents life." — Naguib Mahfouz
A collection of images captured either through my cell phone or camera lens, of life in Egypt.
gentle Street dogs weave through the chaos with the calm of locals who’ve seen it all, ribs sharp, eyes sharper, never quite begginG; while Stray cats own the shadows and the doorsteps, sleek or scruffy, watching the human rush like bored royalty.
Everywhere you turn, ancient stone and modern chaos share the same dusty light.
Egypt is a riot of colourful chaos; demanding the senses to sit up and pay attention.
Butchers’ stalls spill onto the pavement — carcasses swinging, knives flashing, the thick iron scent of fresh meat hanging heavy in the heat.
Stone steps worn smooth by a thousand years of feet still radiate the day’s heat long after sunset.
أنا بحب مصر
Ramadan has its own special time. The entire country slows down - especially Cairo.
Lanterns sway above the alleys like soft orange moons while families break the fast shoulder to shoulder with strangers.
Cairo’s unofficial seating plan: anywhere there’s a wall, a doorway, a patch of shade (or not), someone has already dragged the most unlikely looking chair.
In a city full of such colour, even monochrome is vibrant!
